Theo Brunner had another solid match, but the rest of the arms on the UCSB men's volleyball teams failed to fire effectively in a 30-25, 23-30, 30-21, 30-18 loss Friday at Stanford.

Brunner pounded 20 of his team's 54 kills and hit at a .400 clip, but no other hitter with 10 or more swings broke the .250 mark. The Gauchos (4-7, 3-5 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) also allowed eight aces by the Cardinal (8-4, 4-4).

The loss stifles some of the momentum gained after UCSB's two-match sweep of visiting Hawaii last week, but the Gauchos will have a chance to get back to winning tonight as they face Pacific in Stockton.
